With newly developed and up-to-date lubricant concepts, Klüber Lubrication will again showcase automotive-specific tribological solutions other than engine or gearbox lubricants at the International Supplier Exchange IZB (22-24 October 2024 in Wolfsburg). PFAS-free lubricant alternatives for the vehicle interior as well as optimised special lubricants for electromechanical components in new mobility and drive-by-wire applications are particularly at the focus this year.
As current discussion shows, perfluorinated and polyfluorinated chemicals (PFAS) can improve the properties of many products, but they also carry risks. As a driver of sustainable solutions, Klüber Lubrication is therefore expanding its portfolio with more and more PFAS-free lubricant alternatives, which will be presented at IZB this year.
Specialty lubricants and assembly aids
One such new PFAS-free alternative is Klübersynth AML 24-121, which is designed specifically for reliable lubrication of glass panoramic sliding roofs as well as for further applications in the vehicle interior. In addition to high washout stability, very good lubricity and reliable wear protection, it offers good material compatibility with plastics and plastic-metal pairings thanks to a special thickener system. In addition, the lubricant is very resistant to the effects of water and alkaline cleaning agents (e.g. at the car wash).
Klübersynth AML 24-121 thus seamlessly integrates with the existing range of material-compatible and odour-optimised special lubricants, which can significantly
improve operation, sensory perception and comfort inside the vehicle and also extend the service life of the components. The portfolio for the interior also includes various assembly aids such as Klüberfluid 9 R 100 or the Klüberplus S 06/S 07 series. These facilitate, for example, seal assembly, which in turn reduces effort and increases quality.
Tribological solutions for new mobility and drive-by-wire technology
Another subject in focus at Klüber Lubrication’s IZB booth is tribological responses to the trend towards progressive electrification in the automotive sector. This is because electromechanical components – such as in
steering, clutch and braking systems of hybrid and electric vehicles – require special lubricants matching these new requirements.
Two examples of new and further developments can be seen at the IZB: Klübersynth SEB 44-41 for lubricating the drive units of steering systems and their rolling bearings, and the low-temperature grease Klübersynth GL 44-52 for use in braking systems and small actuators in electric vehicles.
Additionally, two further PFAS-free greases that are also available are Klübersynth LMI 44-82 and Klübersynth LMI 44-202.
