Rising interest in MOSH and MOAH topic amongst the Oil Millers in the Philippines

MOSH and MOAH is increasing gaining attention and interest with oil millers in the Philippines. They are looking for a solution to better manage the topic since they are supplying products to Europe which has stringent regulations about contaminations. For a start, the oil millers were looking for lubricants that are free from or in compliant with MOSH and MOAH. 

As a manufacturer of specialty products, food safety has long been a focus for Klüber Lubrication. To address the issue of food safety and contamination risk, the need for high quality, H1 lubricants are necessary. Klüber Lubrication's H1 lubricants are in compliance with 21 CFR 178.3570 issued by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). That means they are designed for incidental contact with food product. In case of unavoidable food contact, according to FDA regulations, the amount of lubricant in food must not exceed 1 ppm for silicone oils and 10 ppm for all other base oils. Very small quantities of modern, innovative high-performance lubricants are sufficient to achieve the desired lubricating effect and thus reduces the risk of contamination.

The main application of oil millers is the Expeller Gearbox which happens to be the highest potential source of contamination. This application is always having an issue with leakages, thereby contaminating the end products. We proposed a comprehensive solution by recommending them with a high-performance oil or lubricant which would help eliminate leakages by suggesting seals that are suitable for various applications. Krypton possesses Garlock sealings that offers total solutions to customers in general.

We visited three oil miller customers along with Krypton in February 2023, offering targeted solutions which would aid them around the contamination issues. We put together a comprehensive package of eliminating potential contaminations by using our high-performance NSF H1 food grade lubricants with the sealing that Krypton carries. We relayed to the customers that when we eliminate the contamination through leakage, it would minimise the MOSH and MOAH contamination from their end while saving money since our food grade synthetic oils last thrice as long as compared to a regular mineral oil. 

Some oil millers informed us that they are using oils which are already in compliant with MOSH and MOAH, but they are required to replenish on a monthly basis. We assured them that we would enhance their savings if they give our lubrication solutions a try. 

We are happy to be replicating the needful solutions across various local oil miller customers as well as potential customers who are top food manufacturers in Philippines. We are subsequently working to finalise our next steps with them.
