Rooting for Smile Train in the Philippines

Smile Train is an international charity organisation that sets itself to provide funding, resources and training to local doctors in over 90 countries to execute corrective surgery for more than 1.5 million children with cleft lips and palates, hence creating a better future for the young patients.

As we were unable to roll out an e2 project in the Philippines with Smile Train to support a speech camp due to insufficient resources, we have tasked Mr. Tyrone Malalad, our Marketing Manager to handle a wish list from Smile Train Philippines in February 2020. We wanted to grant the wishes of these children by giving away toys and handy materials that are suitable for speech training especially for those recovering from their corrective surgeries.

“For me especially, it was a humbling and a joyful experience to see those kids happy to see the toys. This will surely bring a smile to the kids while doing their speech therapy” explains Mr. Tyrone Malalad, KLSEA.

“I am also glad that Tyrone saw some patients during his visit, especially those who have not had surgery yet. The speech therapists were so happy to receive the materials” explains Kimmy Flaviano, Area Director (Southeast Asia) at Smile Train.

There are many ways we can contribute to help the less privileged children to continue leading a full and productive life. We can help change the world one smile at a time. Looking forward to work on our next project!
